Overview

An early spring edible flower medley with orange and yellow blooms.

Conditions

To ensure its successful growth, begin by selecting a sunny location (6+ hours of direct sunlight) with well-drained soil.

Planting

Plant the seeds in early spring or late summer to enjoy a continuous display of blooms throughout the growing season. Use our grow calendar tool to find specific planting dates for your region! Plant 2–3 seeds per starter pot indoors 4–5 weeks before transplating bury them about 1/4 inch deep. Thin to the one strongest plant per pot when ~2" tall, and transition outside (harden) for 7 days before outdoor transplant. Space them 12–18 inches apart to allow ample room for growth.

Care

Consistently moist soil, without waterlogging is essential, and a balanced, all-purpose organic fertilizer applied every 4–6 weeks will help sustain the plant's vitality. Regular deadheading (removal old flowers) encourages more blooms.

Pets and Disease

Keep an eye out for potential pests like aphids and snails, employing organic methods for control. Here's a link to our favorite homemade insecticidal soap recipe for plants!

Harvest

As the blossoms flourish, harvest them regularly for fresh or dried floral arrangements.
