Overview
Our Regenerative Organic Certified® Yarrow seeds grow into a resilient, pollinator-friendly perennial with soft, feathery foliage and clusters of tiny blooms. Long loved for attracting beneficial insects and adding gentle beauty to any space, yarrow is also a hardy traditional herb used for centuries to support wound care and digestion.
Conditions
Yarrow loves full sun and well-drained soil. It thrives in poor or dry soil where many plants struggle, making it a great low-maintenance choice.
Planting
Cold stratify* 2–4 weeks, and then plant indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost. Plant 2–3 seeds on the soil surface of each starter pot - do not cover (needs light). Thin to the one strongest, and transition outside (harden) 7 days before transplanting outdoors into a raised soil bed, leaving 2" of pot exposed.
*Cold stratify: place seeds in the fridge in a moist, folded paper towel before planting.
Care
Once established, yarrow is incredibly hardy. Water sparingly, trim back spent flowers to encourage new blooms, and give the plant room to spread. It tolerates heat, drought, and lean soils with ease.
Pests and Disease
Yarrow is naturally resistant to most pests and diseases. Occasional mildew or aphids may appear, but good airflow and careful watering usually keep plants healthy. Treat issues with organic pest control methods as needed — here’s a link to our favorite homemade insecticidal soap recipe for plants! Proper drainage and avoiding overwatering also prevent root rot.
Harvest
Harvest stems when the flower clusters are fully open. Use fresh or dried for arrangements, crafts, or traditional herbal uses.
